What is the medical certificate for the Non-Lucrative Visa?
Why get it done here rather than in your home country
If the certificate is issued outside of Spain, the consulate usually requires an apostille from The Hague and a sworn translation into Spanish. A certificate issued by a registered doctor in Spain does not require any of these procedures, because the document already originates here.
What the certificate includes
An in-person examination is required: consulates do not accept certificates issued only by video consultation or by phone
Validity and when to get it
The certificate is valid for 90 days from the date it is signed. We recommend booking the visit between 30 and 60 days before your consulate appointment or the submission of your application.
What procedures it’s used for

How long is the certificate valid for?
90 days from the date the doctor signs it.
Do I need an apostille if I get it done in Spain?
No. Since the document is issued in Spain by a doctor licensed here, no apostille or additional legalisation is needed.
What language must it be written in?
We issue it in Spanish and English on the same document, and we can also provide it in Catalan. A bilingual certificate means you don’t need a separate sworn translation.
Can it be done by video consultation?
No. Consulates require an in-person medical examination; certificates issued only by phone or video call are not accepted.
Does it also work for other visas, such as student visas or family reunification?
